“You are led through your lifetime by the inner learning creature, the playful spiritual being that is your real self.
Don't turn away from possible futures before you're certain you don't have anything to learn from them.”

Oh! To be in England . . .

As most of you know by reading my profile, I'm a Canadian living in the United States who wishes she lived in England. There is no time when that is more true than in the Spring. With thoughts and memories of our trip to my beloved England five years ago to warm me, I'll have to content myself with pictures and daydreams of visiting once more . . .

Oh, to be in England
Now that April's there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England - now!

And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows
Hark! where my blossomed pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops - at the bent spray's edge
That's the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
The first fine careless rapture!

And though the fields look rough with hoary dew,
All will be gay when noontide wakes anew
The buttercups, the little children's dower, -
Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!

I too long to be in England at this time of year. Daffodils are everywhere! And I am in 'the great white north' where snow is still to be found lurking on roadsides and hiding in corners. It is this time of year I miss living in England the most, although I must admit when the summer roses are in bloom, there's nothing quite like the scent that fills the country air! Ah well...we can dream! Blessings!
