Don't turn away from possible futures before you're certain you don't have anything to learn from them.”

Pagan Prayers

I came across a site the other day where someone was asking if Pagans said prayers. I admit I was a little taken aback . . . doesn't everyone with faith pray? Apparently, not everyone thinks so.

Triple Goddess Rosaries

Mother Mary Rosary

Green Tara Mala
(This gorgeous piece was custom made by Jayne at Infinite Spirit)

So, just to set the record straight, this Pagan prays. I pray my Goddess rosaries and my Mary rosary, and I also pray with my mala dedicated to Green Tara. I pray to the God and to the Goddess. I pray in the morning and evening and when there's something in particular I need guidance on or when I need reassurance or peace. There are a multitude of ways to pray and as many prayers to say them.

When I first started out on this path I searched for books that contained Pagan prayers. I found several that spoke to me and I'm always on the lookout for inspiring Pagan prayer books.

A few of the books on my shelf:
Living Wicca - Scott Cunningham
Goddess Bless - Sirona Knight
Be Blessed - Denise Dumars
Dewdrops in the Moonlight - Shanddaramon

The books I've listed here are just a few that I found helpful and inspiring. My most recent purchase is a book called 'Earth Psalms' by Angela Magara. It is a lovely book filled with 150 psalms that warm the heart and feed the soul.

Due to the hurricane in Angela's area (she was part of the disaster recovery team) and then an illness, shipping of my book was delayed. And although it was unnecessary, Angela sent along an extra copy of the book which she has graciously autographed.

I've given it some thought and can't think of anyone I'd rather share this book with than you, my followers. So I'm having a give-away! All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and I'll enter you in the drawing which I'll hold on October 1st. Isn't that a great way to start the month of October?

And if you know of any good Pagan prayer books please don't hesitate to share!

I get quite a bit of comfort from praying to or talking to the goddess...I like to converse with her before going to bed unless there is something that needs to be addressed RIGHT NOW...and i also find lately i'm doing a lot of mental shouting of "goddess give me patience and strength" when my tween gets fiesty :-)

What a beautiful autumn post ! I love your blog and also was so blessed when I found your post on the triple goddess rosary ! I am going to write a post on being a Heathen or christopagan right away and had thought I for sure am going to include a link to your rosary . I also just joined a group mystic rosary on yahoo but haven't had time yet to read through the different rosaries prayed .
I too read that pagans or wiccans pray in several beginner type pagan books . I think many who are new think that pagan witches only do spells which is so wrong because of course we learn studing acient cultures that they prayed all the time to the gods of their culture .
I honestly think how can one not pra because isn't communicating our heart & soul to the divine in itself prayer lol
I so love the realness of your blog it is so very genuine ☺ Thank You so much

I've never read a prayer book but I do "speak to" the Goddess (and sometimes The God) and consider that prayer. I don't think I would be comfortable with a prayer that was already written...not that there is anything wrong with people who do. Just not for me. Whatever gives someone peace and allows them to commune with the Goddess, that's the right way. Written in a book or not.

I'm so glad that I didn't miss this giveaway! Please enter me in your giveaway. I just love your Triple Goddess Rosary....it's beautiful! Life is so strange....because I have been looking at prayer beads on Etsy for the last few days....where did you get yours?

Dark Mother ~ I agree with you. Prayers that come from the heart are the most meaningful and powerful and I've said some pretty powerful prayers on the fly! LOL!

However, sometimes a prayer written by someone else can have just as much impact, especially when one is in the middle of a situation and doesn't have the words to say. Sometimes a little bit of help is all that is needed to get the ball rolling.

Thanks to everyone who has entered my give-away so far . . . only one more day!

Blessed Be,
Tereza

I feel like I am more of a praying witch then a witchy witch most of the time. What would we do without prayer?
I love Franchesca de Grandis' books, as they are full of beautiful down to earth prayers to God and Goddess. She is amazing.

I just found your blog, and I am so happy I did! It is beautiful and fills me with happiness:) I too scoop up any pagan prayer books I can find, and my two must haves are Galen Gillotte's "Book of Hours: Prayers to the Goddess", and "Book of Hours: Prayers to the God". They have prayers for every possible reason and season, and I turn to them often. BB!
