Don't turn away from possible futures before you're certain you don't have anything to learn from them.”

Book Give-Away Winner!

Thank you to everyone who participated in my 'Earth Psalms' book give-away! I wish that I had a copy for everyone, but alas, I have only one to share.

So, I wrote out everyone's names and placed them in a basket . . .

Had my trusty assistant pull a name . . .

And the winner is - DAKOTA! Woo Hoo! Dakota, if you would email me your mailing information using the email button on my sidebar, I'll get this gorgeous book into the post for you!

Thank you again everyone for participating!

Bless this Day

May this day be blessed with gifts,
lessons, understanding and friends.
May my energy be a gift to all I meet.

Let me be centered, healing and open.
May I face the day with courage,
kindness, insight and compassion.

May my spirit and body, honor this day.

Pagan Prayers

I came across a site the other day where someone was asking if Pagans said prayers. I admit I was a little taken aback . . . doesn't everyone with faith pray? Apparently, not everyone thinks so.

Triple Goddess Rosaries

Mother Mary Rosary

Green Tara Mala
(This gorgeous piece was custom made by Jayne at Infinite Spirit)

So, just to set the record straight, this Pagan prays. I pray my Goddess rosaries and my Mary rosary, and I also pray with my mala dedicated to Green Tara. I pray to the God and to the Goddess. I pray in the morning and evening and when there's something in particular I need guidance on or when I need reassurance or peace. There are a multitude of ways to pray and as many prayers to say them.

When I first started out on this path I searched for books that contained Pagan prayers. I found several that spoke to me and I'm always on the lookout for inspiring Pagan prayer books.

A few of the books on my shelf:
Living Wicca - Scott Cunningham
Goddess Bless - Sirona Knight
Be Blessed - Denise Dumars
Dewdrops in the Moonlight - Shanddaramon

The books I've listed here are just a few that I found helpful and inspiring. My most recent purchase is a book called 'Earth Psalms' by Angela Magara. It is a lovely book filled with 150 psalms that warm the heart and feed the soul.

Due to the hurricane in Angela's area (she was part of the disaster recovery team) and then an illness, shipping of my book was delayed. And although it was unnecessary, Angela sent along an extra copy of the book which she has graciously autographed.

I've given it some thought and can't think of anyone I'd rather share this book with than you, my followers. So I'm having a give-away! All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and I'll enter you in the drawing which I'll hold on October 1st. Isn't that a great way to start the month of October?

And if you know of any good Pagan prayer books please don't hesitate to share!

Crystal Grids by Hibiscus Moon

My crystal teacher, Hibiscus Moon, just wrote and published her first book. If you've seen my youtube videos, you know what I've been learning in her classes so you can imagine how chock-full of information this book is. It's now available on Amazon and I highly recommend it to people who are interested in crystals, creating crystal grids or who are just interested in the science behind it all!

And while I'm at it . . . CONGRATULATIONS Hibiscus Moon . . . wishing you much success!

I am not an idiot . . .

You've seen them in the bookstores. Those yellow and black or orange books that declare you are an idiot and apparently you need a book to tell you so. I jest of course, but why on Earth couldn't they have named them 'The Complete GENIUS'S Guide to . . .' After all, you're buying a book because you don't know everything there is to know about a subject (or you're just looking for some entertainment) and are therefore buying the book to expand your knowledge. Seems pretty smart to me . . . I'm just saying . . .

Feeling better for having gotten that off my chest, I now turn to the real reason for this post . . . a new book I'm reading called, you guessed it, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft. This book is full of great information and whys and what-fors. It covers all the basics like the history of Wicca and Witchcraft, the Wiccan Rede, rituals, Sabbats and esbats and then gets into what magick is and how use it, what supplies are needed, working with crystals, stones, herbs and essential oils.

This book is fantastic for a beginner just setting out on the path and also for someone who's been walking the path for awhile, but for one reason or another has become stuck. What I like best about the book is the inclusion of a Year-and-a-Day study. I've often read that phrase in other books but could never find a source for going about studying for the year-and-a-day. This book has it! It gives short descriptions on different aspects of Wicca which you can expand upon depending on your preferences. It is laid out according to the Wheel of the Year, so you'll be studying on aspects related to Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

Since we've already waved goodbye to Imbolc and traditionally the best time for new beginnings, there's no time like the present! Personally, I'm going to begin my study at the next New Moon which is Friday, March 4th - a great time for starting new projects and making new plans. That will give me enough time to read the book and prepare myself for going back to school!

So while I've been on the Wiccan path for some time now, have read some great books, done loads of internet research, have set up my Book of Shadows, done ritual and celebrate the God and Goddess, I feel a new surge of excitement in having a clearly defined course of study. One that I can grasp and make my own in whatever way rings true for me. Yay!

I leave you today with a picture of my two little fellows looking out the window . . . the snow is so high I don't think they can really see anything, although they're determined . . .

The Law of Attraction

I'm starting to believe that someone is trying to tell me something. It doesn't matter where I go or who I speak with, The Law of Attraction makes it's way into my world either in the form of a book or someone telling me about a book I should read.

As you know I've been reading 'Ask and it is Given' wherein it explains the Law of Attraction, how it works and what one must do to allow the attraction to take place. Last Wednesday when I was sitting reading the book, I got the overwhelming feeling that I should book an appointment with a pyschic. I had been thinking about booking an appointment for some time, but the feeling was so overwhelming I just couldn't ignore it anymore.

I went to the appointment at the scheduled time on Monday and sat in anticipation as she read my palms, tarot cards and did a clairvoyance reading. She touched on so many subjects and gave me so much information that by the end of the reading I was pretty much exhausted. One chord that really struck was when she told me I NEEDED to read 'The Secret'. Yet another book on The Law of Attraction!

So, heeding what the universe is trying to get through this thick skull of mine, I headed to the bookstore and picked up a copy of 'The Secret'. After reading only a few chapters last night, I can tell you that I'm already thinking about the way I think. And one more thing I know for sure . . . I need to think less and meditate more and open my mind and heart to what the Goddess is trying to tell me. And don't even get me started on my Chakra's, that's a whole other post . . .

So how about you? Are you aware of what you're thinking about?
